West Virginia adopts uniform forms for credentialing effective July 1^st, 2003

07 May 2003 -- Please read the News section at the West Virginia Insurance Commission website for more complete and direct information regarding the new credential forms that are to take effect this July. The actual credentialing and for re-credentialing forms are available for download on the website at the time of this announcement.

Essentially, it seems to boil down to a few simple facts. First, the uniform forms seem more thorough and comprehensive than most (certainly more detailed than those used by PIPAC in the past). On the other hand, once the initial task of completing them is done, they can be used for all agencies and will require only minor editing or updating).

Initially, there will be the nuisance associated with any change and the chore of compiling and entering the information required on the forms. In the long run, however, this should greatly simplify things for everyone. This is especially true if the forms are stored on computer for ease of modification and duplication. Even without a computer, a Xerox® machine can still do most of the work along with a few supplementary pages.

The PIPAC Credentialing Plan will be modified to accommodate this change in state law and we will begin requiring the new forms on 01 July 2003. Please note that no fields are to be left blank and that N/A may be used if the item is not applicable. With the implementation of the new forms, PIPAC will no longer indulge individuals who choose to complete their applications primarily by inserting phrases such as "See CV" or "See attached." If the application itself is not complete, it will not be acceptable.
